MnAEYC Nurturing Membership Committee

The Nurturing Membership Committee helps build and sustain a welcoming, connected, and engaged MnAEYC membership community. This committee focuses on supporting members at every stage of their MnAEYC journey — from welcoming new members, to encouraging renewals, to creating meaningful opportunities for members to connect, contribute, and feel a sense of belonging within the organization.

Purpose

The Nurturing Membership Committee works to strengthen MnAEYC’s membership by developing strategies that recruit, welcome, engage, and retain members across Minnesota’s early childhood community. Through thoughtful communication, relationship-building, and member-centered initiatives, the committee helps ensure that MnAEYC remains a vibrant professional home for early childhood educators, advocates, leaders, students, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

The Nurturing Membership Committee is responsible for developing and supporting MnAEYC’s annual membership recruitment and engagement plan. This includes identifying opportunities to grow membership, strengthen member participation, and better understand the needs and interests of current and prospective members.

The committee also supports regular member communication, including monthly welcome emails to new members and monthly renewal reminders to members whose memberships are coming up for renewal. These communications are designed to help members feel seen, valued, and connected to the benefits and community of MnAEYC.

In addition, the committee plans and leads membership engagement initiatives throughout the year. These may include informal networking opportunities, member meet-ups, tabling at conferences and events, and other activities that create space for connection, conversation, and professional community-building.

The committee also helps plan for MnAEYC’s annual meeting of members, ensuring that members have opportunities to receive organizational updates, celebrate accomplishments, participate in the life of the association, and help shape the future direction of MnAEYC.

Committee Activities May Include
  • Developing an annual membership recruitment and engagement plan

  • Welcoming new members through monthly outreach

  • Sending renewal reminders and encouraging continued membership

  • Planning informal networking and member engagement events

  • Representing MnAEYC through tabling at conferences and professional gatherings

  • Supporting member recognition, connection, and belonging

  • Assisting with planning the annual meeting of members

  • Gathering feedback from members to inform future engagement efforts
