POSITION: Professional Development Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Education Development Manager

DATE AVAILABLE: August 2010

CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, Non-Exempt 20 hours/week

DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing several professional development efforts by Minnesota Children's Museum to reach all adults caring for children in a variety of capacities. The Professional Development Coordinator develops and facilitates workshops that showcase the Museum’s approach to learning, to Family Child Care providers, Center Child Care providers, Family, Friend and Neighbor providers, and other various early childhood professionals. The Professional Development Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Education Development Manager and Education team to research and develop curriculum; facilitate on-site, off-site and outstate workshops; and manage workshop logistics which includes setup and breakdown, preparing materials, and ordering supplies.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Parent/Family Education.
• Minimum three to five years experience teaching young children in a formal or informal educational setting.
• Minimum three to five years experience facilitating adults (parent educator, trainer, consultant, etc.) in a formal or informal setting.
• Experience in curriculum development for children birth-3rd grade.
• Experience in an informal learning environment.
• Ability to implement last-minute changes in schedule, staffing and other logistics.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
